The INTRO:

This 8 bar intro helps to set the mood for what should be a fairly flexible interpretation. The piano part enters one bar after the final B in the violins. Notice how the bass plays on the 1st beat of the bar and the pizzicate striong chords then play on the 2nd beat, with rests on the 3rd beat.
